On World Storytelling Day stories are told by storytellers all around the world, in all possible languages and in every imaginable place.
Every year on March 20th, when the Western hemisphere is still asleep, the first stories can be heard in Asia and Australia. When storytellers in the Eastern hemisphere are already enjoying the afterglow of their performances, the first stories are told in America and Canada.
In the Netherlands, World Storytelling Day is coordinated by the Storytelling Foundation (Stichting Vertellen). Within the foundation a committee was founded, that encourages storytellers to join World Storytelling Day and that takes care of national publicity, amongst others by this website.
This website is a meeting place for storytellers and their audience. In due course, the calendar (see 'evenementen') will show what events will happen locally on and around March 20th.
